Description
Kermit the Frog and Grover
Debut (Kermit): Sam and Friends, currently unknown sketch - circa 1955
Debut (Grover): The Ed Sullivan Show, "Santa Claus Routine with Arthur Godfrey" - December 24, 1967
Creators: Jim Henson, Don Sahlin, Frank Oz
In the context of Sesame Street, Kermit was the show's veteran lecturer. He would educate kids on important matters, often with the assistance of the eager-to-please, yet bumbling, Grover.
EDIT: "HEEEYYYYYYY FROOOOGGGIIIEEEE BABBBBBYYYYYYY!!!!" www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1CjZu…
Continuing on with Squiggles III week. They're not cartoons, per se. But they fit in with the other characters. I couldn't exactly do Harry Potter or Darth Vader and stick them in here.
Kermit/Grover is probably the most underrated of the Henson/Oz Muppet teams (see above quote). I wanted to recreate the look of the average lecture sketch, circa 1972. For the color job, I also wanted to make Kermit and Grover seem tactile, so this piece is something akin to the earliest Sesame Street illustrations.

It's just wrong that Kermit can't appear on Sesame Street anymore.
